Eid 2015

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I've posted but I'd like to wish all my fellow Muslim readers a belated Eid Mubarak. I hope you all had an amazing day with your family & friends and I pray for each and every one of you that you do not forget everything you learnt in the blessed month of Ramadan.

Now for anyone who doesn't know, Muslims all around the world just finished with the holy month of Ramadan which was from the last 2 weeks of June to the first 2 weeks of July. This month is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar and it is when we fast from Sunrise till Sunset so we eat at the beginning of the day and we have a feast at the end of the day. It is a time where we are supposed to be fully devoted to God and try our hardest to improve ourselves through praying and reciting the holy book, the Qur'an. At the end of this month, there is a celebration which is known as Eid al-Fitr. This is a time to spend with family and friends, celebrate the end of the month of fasting and to have a feast with really nice food.

I'm not sure how it works with other families but with mine we tend to celebrate for two days; the first being the more extravagant day and the second being a bit more relaxed. I posted pictures on my Instagram of my outfit, makeup and hair and thought I'd upload a blog post of more details so let's go! Oh and remember, you can click on any of the photos to see them enlarged since I've made them small for aesthetic reasons, you know so they look all pretty lined up nicely.

On Day 1 I wore red and black as they are my absolute favourite colours. My dress was from a website called DiyaOnline. I'll link the dress here if it is still available. I really liked it because of the way it was cut. I felt it would fit my practically bony figure and I think it did.
Also since you can see my hair clearly in this picture, I curled it using my Aria Beauty 19mm curling wand which is really thin and has an awesome pink cheetah pattern on it. I'll link it here for you all! And I just finger combed it and used my favourite Batiste Natural Hold Hairspray. It is a pretty cheap hairspray however it works so well and I love the way it makes my hair smell.

Now onto my accessories to finish off the outfit part of the post. I wore these gorgeous shoes from New Look.
I really loved these. I don't wear heels all that often and when I do to weddings etc, the heel is usually really small because I'm already pretty tall (5ft8) and I'm just not used to heels. But when I was searching the shops, I had something like this in mind but in the same red colour of my dress. In the end, the only red I could find was the classic red which was to bright to match my dress so I ended up with black heels. The heel itself isn't too tall and is thick and then there is also a thick platform at the front of the shoe which gives extra comfort. These were definitely the most comfortable pair of heels I've ever worn. I couldn't find them on the website so sorry about that.

My final accessories are my red pendant necklace which I got from Avon a little while ago. It has 4 interchangeable gems and red is one of them so I figured it was perfect to wear. The bracelet was a gift from my grandma which she gave me back in December for my 18th birthday. I'd never worn it so I decided why not? And it made her happy to see me wearing it!

Now for the makeup which in my eyes is the most exciting bit!

Here are the 4 main shots of my makeup. I kept it quite simple with a classic gold and black smokey eye, nicely filled in brows, a timeless red lip and a bronzed up face. I'll have a more detailed list of products down below but here are some pictures of the main makeup I used for my eyes and my contour.

I obviously first used the Urban Decay Primer Potion to prep my lids for the shadow and it is my all time favourite primer now. As you all may (or may not) know, I like to use a base colour all over my lid up till the brow bone. For this look I used Walk Of Shame from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette.

I then used the I Heart Makeup Ur The Best Thing palette. I haven't used this palette all that often but it has some nice colours in it. I used the gold on the bottom row as my main lid colour. Using a dampened flat shader brush, I dipped it into the colour and applied it all over the lid. By making the brush damp, it created a vivid colour on the lid and last longer. Then I took a dome brush and used the black in the top right hand corner and worked it into the outer corner and the crease. Lastly I used a fluffy crease brush to blend it all out! The rest of my eye products will be listed at the end but I just filled in my brows, lined my lids and then applied mascara.

For my contour, I use two different products. The first is this eyeshadow from Natural Collection in the shade, Crushed Walnut. I got this top from a YouTuber named Kaushal Beauty. I used a concealer brush from ELF and used this eyeshadow to sculpt out my contour along by non-existent cheekbones. But it's all cool, we have makeup to create some nicely defined cheekbones. Then I took my regular powder brush to blend it out a little.

The 2nd product I use for my contour is my trusty little Sleek palette. I use the dark contour shade and mix it a little with the bronzer shade on a Real Techniques contour brush and work it into the lines that have already been created. I also apply it to the temples and below the jawline for a nice overall glow.

I love the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, it is my favourite product to use as highlight. I used the Real Techniques flat foundation brush to apply it to the tops of my cheeks, down the bridge of my nose, cupids bow, little bit on the chin and lastly my brow bone which finishes my eye makeup. Also keep in mind, on top of my foundation I use a light concealer under my eyes in the shape of an upside down triangle, down the bridge of my nose, cupids bow, sides of my mouth and my chin so my skin is previously highlighted but the Soft and Gentle adds a nice extra touch.

And the final touch for my face is blush. I love this Revolution blush palette as it has a nice variety of colours to choose from. I have a few favourites and as you can see from the picture, those are the 3 shades I used and they are the ones I use the most often when I do my makeup like this. I mix the 3 together on an angled blush brush and apply directly over the contour to add more colour to my face.

Now I don't have any more pictures so here is a full list of what I used. Keep in mind, I used most of this on day 1 and day 2.

  1. Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer
  2. Revlon ColourStay Foundation in 320 True Beige

  4. Collection Concealer in Deep (to cover blemishes)
  5. Collection Concealer in Dark (to highlight)
  6. Urban Decay Primer Potion (Original)
  7. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
  8. I Heart Makeup Ur The Best Thing Palette
  9. NYC Big Bold & Precise Liner in Extra Black
  10. Avon SuperShock Mascara
  11. Sleek Eyebrow Kit in Dark
  12. Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Crushed Walnut
  13. Sleek FaceForm Palette in Medium
  14. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle

  16. Barry M Lip Liner Red 01C4
  17. Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick Eternal Flame
Now for Day 2

I wore a suit from a store called Aroug that sell Asian/Pakistani outfits. It was quite casual because like I mentioned earlier day 2 in my family usually is a lot more casual. I paired the outfit with the same black leggings I wore on day 1.
My hair was still curled from the previous day so all I did to it was brush it out a little using my tangle teezer and sprayed in a little Argan oil to the ends and it created looser curls which I love to wear. I think I forgot to get the picture of my necklace from my mobile onto my laptop (I edited most of the pictures on my mobile) but it is from H&M and I got it some time last year around December for my 18th birthday so I'm not sure if they'll still have it.

I wore the same exact heels as day 1 because they were just that comfortable. And also I kind of didn't plan this outfit very well and did it all last minute so I just felt these were the only heels that looked good with the outfit.

Now my face makeup was the exact same as day 1 because that is what I usually always do when I want a more heavy party/wedding look. But my eye makeup was slightly different. Just a tad bit. You guys already know how much I love my smokey eyes so it wouldn't be an "Iqra makeup look" without one! Also before I jump into the products, I wanted to throw in this picture of how my makeup looked at the end of the night (around 10pm/11pm).
As you can see, my eye makeup held up really well and that is all thanks to the Primer Potion and the fact that I used a damp brush to apply my eyeshadow. The face makeup has faded a bit and I look a little oily but it wasn't too bad because usually it is a lot worse.

Again I primed with the Urban Decay Primer Potion and then I used Foxy from the Urban Decay Naked Basics. I don't really know why I chose Foxy over W.O.S but I did, either way I love both shades as "all over lid colours".

Then I used a damp flat shade brush and used the gold/brown shade on the top row and that rose gold colour on the bottom row mixed together and swiped it all over the eyelid. Again as before, I used a dome brush and the black shadow for my crease and outer corner; finishing with the fluffy brush to blend the colours out. And that was really the only thing I did differently other than my lip colour. Since all my products are the same as the list above, I'll just list my lip products. First I lined my lips with the Avon Ultra GlammerStick Lip Liner in Pink Bouquet. I then used Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick in 19 which is essentially my perfect nude colour. On top of it I used the Laura Geller Colour Brilliance Lustrous Lipstick in Flirt just to darken it a tad. And lastly, I used a little bit f Avon Irrestisibly Sexy Sultry Lip Pencil in Red Vixen on the centre of my lips to add a bit of dimension. And that is literally all of my makeup.

I wanted to throw in a little extra to make up for the lack of posts recently. I also did my cousin's makeup on day 2 so here we go. (Pictures of her look at the end)

I obviously primed her lids with the Urban Decay Primer Potion and then used Walk Of Shame from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette all over her eyelid up to the brow bone.

I used the same I Heart Makeup palette but used the top row bright gold shade on a wet flat shader brush to use on the entire eyelid.
Then I used the Make Up Academy Winter Forest palette and took the the shade Midnight and used it on the outer corner of her eye and worked it into the crease. This colour is a beautiful navy and I hadn't had the chance to use this palette yet so since her dress was a similar navy blue colour, I thought why not?
I then went back to the  I Heart Makeup palette and used the black shade and worked it a little into the crease to darken and add dimension. I did the blending and then we were done. I added a little bit of liner using the same liquid liner I used and then she used her own mascara which was a W7 one I think. The rest of her eye products were her own. She used the Primark White Eyeliner Pencil on her tear duct/inner corner to brighten up the eyes and break up all the dark colours. She used my Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 240 Aqua and applied underneath her bottom lashes to add a pop of bright blue. Then she used the Collection Intense Colour SuperSoft Kohl in Black Magic on her waterline because she loves doing it and always does plus is darkens the looks up.

I'm not too sure about her base face makeup since she did that from home but I think it is a Body Shop powder foundation that she uses and I don't know what liquid foundation she uses. She wanted me to try contour on her since she tried doing it herself but thought she didn't do it well so I did. Since she is a lot paler than me, I used the smallest amount of the dark contour shade in the Sleek palette on the ELF concealer brush and carved out her cheekbones. Then I used the Real Techniques contour brush (I spot cleaned it with some Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water since we both have acne) and blended it out. Her contour was quite light but still created the right amount of definition.
To finish it off, I used one of the lighter shades of blusher in the blush palette which I hardly use because it doesn't show up on my skin and used her own blush brush (don't know what type/brand, sorry) and applied over the contour and onto the apples of her cheeks. Her lipstick was her own so I don't really know what it was but it was a nice pinky shade.

Here are the pictures of her makeup and outfit!

I think that is all now. I will finish off the post with some random photos of myself I took on day 1 and 2 that seem fun so I'll throw them in. Once again, I hope my Muslim readers had a great eid and I shall talk to guys real soon :) xoxo
